Baby steps. But steps nonetheless.
As we all get a better handle on the Coronavirus, things are beginning to look up a bit. It’s way too early to think this horrible chapter is behind us, but many Texas officials now think it wise to gently have people get back to work. We are pleased to hear that and will begin taking small steps to help our store customers with their eyeglass needs.
Good vision is an essential component of healthy living, including safe driving and reading. Whether it’s important official notices about COVID-19 or instructions/warnings on medicine bottles and cleaning products, or the need for emergency repairs, eyeglasses are a medical necessity.
So, how are we going to be handling things given the latest assessment by the professionals? Here are our plans right now:
We will be opening on a limited basis, starting Friday, April 24.
Hours: Monday – Saturday, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
You have two ways to shop:
Place your order and pay over the phone, then pick up your glasses or sunglasses at your convenience. You can set up an appointment with the sales associate when you place your order. You can also just call us when you are in the neighborhood and let us know you’ll be arriving in a few minutes. The store phone number is: 214-265-5955
Shop By Appointment
For those who might need assistance selecting the right frames, lenses, and coatings, we’re creating 30 or 45-minute windows when you can shop with the dedicated attention of an optician associate.
To ensure proper social distancing, we are allowing up to three customers in the store at a time. You can call the number above to make an appointment or secure a spot online here: Goo Goo Eyes Appointments. 30 or 45-minute windows will be available Monday – Saturday, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. All store surfaces—countertops, door handles, seating, as well as any eyewear that might have been interacted with previously—will be sanitized before the start of each appointment.
To increase everyone’s safety, face masks are required for both sales associates and customers. Please put your face mask on before you enter the store. Masks will be available for those who need them. Naturally, please adhere to the social distancing guideline of keeping six feet of space between yourself and others.
*If you are a health care provider or do other work critical to the COVID-19 response efforts, if needed, we may be able to extend our hours—earlier or later—to accommodate your schedule. Just call us and we’ll see what we can do.
One more way—no guarantees, though.
If you happen to be in the neighborhood, you may be able to just walk in and enjoy a free time slot. If there is no one else scheduled, an associate will be happy to accommodate you. Naturally, people with appointments will have priority over walk-ins.
Perhaps the most important thing we can all do during these high stress times is to be considerate of others and to try to be patient. We’re going to try our best to stick to strict 30 or 45-minute windows, but if you have to wait an extra few minutes for us to finish up with a customer or wipe everything down before we can let you in, we hope you’ll understand.
A note for our customers who sometimes wear contact lenses.
Given the fact that the Coronavirus can be contracted by touching a surface where the virus is present and then touching your mouth, nose or eyes, it might be wise to give your contacts some time off and use eyeglasses exclusively for the next few months.
Well, that’s all for now. These are different times. As things change, we will, of course, let you know. In the meantime, keep safe.
With warm and caring wishes for you, your family and friends,
Peter Granoff, and all of us at Goo Goo Eyes
