3D Printed Eyewear: Cool, Comfortable And Leading This New Frame Choice

This season, Goo Goo Eyes is presenting its first 3D printed sun and ophthalmic collections, featuring state-of-the-art frames that deliver quality, comfort and design innovation. 3D printed eyewear continues to grow and grow in popularity and our team have scoured the globe for the very finest 3D printed frames that feel luxurious to wear and perfectly high-tech in all aspects of their design…

Handcrafted + High-Tech: Revolutionary 3D Printed Eyewear By Mykita

Berlin-based eyewear maker, Mykita is one of the leading innovators in 3D printed eyewear design and their collection represents the very best patented design-focused and quality-driven ranges available in the 3D printed glasses category.

Mylon®

Mykita’s 3D printed eyewear is made from Mylon®, an award-winning material innovation known for its adaptability, exceptional lightness, and durability. Mykita first introduced the material in 2011, and since that time, the Mykita Mylon® models are recognized by many industry insiders as among the most sophisticated in terms of quality, performance and design style.

Mylon® is made from fine polyamide powder fused into solid frames using a 3D printing technology called selective laser sintering (SLS). With the material, Mykita created an entirely new material category in eyewear and set the industry benchmark for frames made by additive manufacturing.

Much focus went into refining the laser-sintered surface and developing processes to smooth, color and seal the surface with the aim of creating a product with distinct visual and tactile appeal, in line with Mykita’s aesthetic vision and focus on fine detail through specialized craftsmanship and new technologies.

Taking place exclusively at the Mykita manufactory in Berlin, the laser-sintering process behind Mylon® is also resource-friendly with minimal material waste – a direction that has become increasingly sought after with the shift towards more sustainable production models for eyewear.

Mykita Mylon® / 3 of the finest frames, handcrafted in Berlin

The range of styles for the season expresses the freedom of design of Mykita’s high-tech material…one of the most comfortable frame materials you will ever try!

1 / Mykita Hybrid Mojave Sunglasses

 MH7 Pitch Black/Glossy Gold

A superstar in this collection featuring a Mylon® front in a stainless steel rim. We love it for its minimal and ultra sophisticated aesthetic. The details are worth noting: alongside the stylish finesse and soft touch finish of the frame there are plenty of technical features to enhance the comfort – from silicone temple tips and nose pads to the advanced spiral hinge – a true innovation for the durability and easy wear of the style.

2 / Mykita Coleman Sunglasses

 MD34 Indigo

The Coleman Sunglasses are based on a classic panto shape, while offering an incredibly lightweight construction and minimal, clean design. The 3D printed material is notable for its contemporary look, with features such as the hydrophobic nano coating which provides the soft and pleasantly tactile surface.

One of the outstanding features of the frame and the rest of the models in this new collection is the patented screwless hinge system – an advanced hinge solution that is integrated in the frame (doing away with tiny parts such as screws is a great advantage for the longevity of the frame!)

3 / The Sindal Eyeglasses

 MH71 True Purple/Shiny Silver

Looking for an optical frame with a timeless design and exceptional comfort? The Sindal style from Mykita combines a circular stainless steel front with the 3D printed Mylon® material. The frame has a high-tech feel and yet it suits all spectacle wearers who seek an everyday silhouette for any occasions. Highly recommended for newcomers to 3D printed frames!
